It has been stated that UK plumbers are almost completely unprepared for the changes to the way the UK’s homes are heated as part of the race to cut carbon emissions, according to a recent meeting of leading engineers, which potentially means that homeowners may need to use architects and engineers at an estimated cost of over 20,000 for each home. Hammersmith Plumbers can save energy. The Royal Academy of Engineering (RAE) has also said that the government plans for insulation and green energy do not fit the changes needed for a change to low carbon heating. The academy wants a massive switch to renewable energy such as solar water heaters and wood-burning stoves. They also want a concerted effort to upgrade insulation in Britain’s draughty homes. It is estimated that around 1/4 of the UK’s carbon emissions are from the heating of residential properties, mostly using gas. In order to deal with the future carbon reduction targets, this amount of fuel needs to reduce dramatically, with millions of homes needing to use new technology like the heat pump. A Hammersmith Plumber is a trained professional. With the lack of required skills amongst plumbers and heating contractors has really slowed the UK’s ability to make this change, the Academy found. A study also found examples of inexperienced or poorly qualified contractors was causing major problems. The study has called for more investment in “upskilling” our heating engineers and installers, with a co-ordinated effort right through the UK that would allow homes to be upgraded for less. It was also stated that the UK could not just depend on heat pump technology, as it would increase electricity use by 50% to drive these pumps. However, if houses are upgraded and low-carbon heating systems fitted, the United Kingdom will save billions and also generate many new jobs.
